FLUID FILM was formulated in the 1940s

for the U.S. Navy in World War II.

It is manufactured

by the Eureka Chemical Company,

which remains family owned

by decendants of the founding chemist.

FLUID FILM is manufactured using an intricate heating and blending process, which combines unrefined woolwax with corrosion inhibitors.   It is manufactured using an all natural lanolin base.

How does FLUID FILM work?

FLUID FILM protects all known metals by creating a non-drying barrier that seals out moisture and air. With the FLUID FILM barrier in place, existing rust will be stopped on contact, and new rust and corrosion cannot develop. FLUID FILM penetrates to the base metal, remaining active and migrating to inaccessible areas. FLUID FILM provides long term protection from the corrosive effects of salts, calcium chloride, moisture and fertilizers.  Containing no solvents, FLUID FILM will not evaporate, providing lasting lubrication and a year of powerful protection.

Why would I want to have my car undercoated every year with Fluid Film,

instead of a traditional hard-shell undercoating?

Hard undercoatings are generally 3-4 times the cost of a FLUID FILM application.

The downside to hard undercoating is with time these tend to chip and crack. The protection is lost as moisture and road salt enters these openings and gets trapped between the hard shell and the vehicle undercarriage. Corrosion will thrive in this environment and you cannot see it until it is too late because it is hidden under the cracked hard shell.

FLUID FILM is a cleaner, less expensive and more effective alternative.

Does the undercarriage need to be prepped first?

FLUID FILM is an excellent penetrant, so extensive prep work is not necessary. Any flaking or bubbled rust spots should be scraped off before application, as these are likely to fall off and leave an untreated bare metal area.

Will FLUID FILM get washed off the undercarriage?

FLUID FILM is not water soluble, resisting splash off from water, slush and mud during driving. Naturally a certain amount of wash off will occur, however FLUID FILM will actually embed itself in the pores of metal, resisting wash off and keeping moisture and oxygen from getting to the base metal. Fluid Film remains active, migrating to inaccessible areas and protecting from moisture and road salts, even calcium chloride.

Can I still wash my car without washing off the Fluid Film?

Yes. FLUID FILM does not wash off easily. Just avoid the high pressure wash on the undercarriage of the vehicle. A low pressure rinse is fine.

Does FLUID FILM attract dirt?

Because FLUID FILM remains wet, it will get an initial dusting upon application, but because it contains no solvents and will not become sticky, it will not gum up or create a build up of dirt.

Does FLUID FILM dry out?

No. FLUID FILM is a lanolin based product containing no solvents. It will not evaporate or dry from the surface. FLUID FILM will leave a wet, non-drying film, that will provide long term corrosion protection on all metals and superior lubrication for all moving parts.  FLUID FILM is low odor.  Ask us if you want to smell the product.

When is the best time to undercoat my vehicle?

The corrosion process is more active when the weather warms up, but FLUID FILM will give you a full year of protection whenever you decide to have your vehicle done.  For your best protection, your vehicle's undercarriage should be dry and clean.

Does FLUID FILM have an odor?

FLUID FILM is very low odor.  FLUID FILM is classified as non-toxic and non-hazardous and contains less than one percent VOC content. Ask us if you want to smell the product before it is applied.

Does FLUID FILM protect all metals?

FLUID FILM will protect all metals from oxidation and atmospheric corrosion, including steel, copper, lead, tin and zinc. It will stop chrome and brass from pitting and aluminum and magnesium from oxidizing.

Can FLUID FILM be appied to a vehicle with existing rust?

If applied over existing rust, FLUID FILM will stop it immediately from spreading further. FLUID FILM will penetrate rust and rust scale, displacing moisture, loosening and easing in the removal process.

What makes FLUID FILM different from the competition?

Where most products contain between seventy and ninety percent solvent, FLUID FILM contains none,  except for its propellant, meaning long lasting lubrication and protection. With no solvent, FLUID FILM won't evaporate or become sticky or gummy, allowing it to migrate to other areas for lubrication or protection. With its unique lanolin base, FLUID FILM will actually imbed itself in the pores of metal, resisting wash off and keeping moisture and oxygen from getting to the base metal.

What’s the big deal about “solvent free”?

FLUID FILM products are solvent free and consist of an all natural lanolin base. Without solvents, FLUID FILM will not dry out or evaporate. When applied inside an enclosed environment, such as inside vehicle doors, inside frame tubes, etc., FLUID FILM will provide long lasting protection.

As an example, think about the product called WD## which is over 50% mineral spirits, according to their technical data. What happens with mineral spirits, alcohol, and similar chemicals when you spill them? They evaporate. These products work well. They penetrate, do their job, loosen the bolt, or get rid of the squeak, and evaporate very quickly.

FLUID FILM on the other hand, with no solvents, will penetrate the area, and will not dry out or evaporate.  FLUID FILM will continue to provide protection and lubrication in that same area.

Will FLUID FILM drip?

No.  FLUID FILM is a non-drip application.

If I spray FLUID FILM on a painted surface, will it harm the paint?

FLUID FILM will not harm most paints. It can be sprayed directly on most painted surfaces without any harmful effects.

Will FLUID FILM adversely affect plastic or rubber?

FLUID FILM has no adverse effects on plastics. Caution should be used around non oil-resistant rubber goods. May cause swelling.

Can I paint over a surface treated with FLUID FILM?

Because FLUID FILM leaves a wet, non-drying film and imbeds itself in the pores of the metal, any surface treated with FLUID FILM should be wiped down with a good biodegradable cleaner before painting.

Will FLUID FILM harm electrical connections?

No. FLUID FILM is non-conductive and will not harm electrical connections. Make sure that all connections are made before applying FLUID FILM.

How is FLUID FILM on snow equipment?

FLUID FILM will prevent snow from sticking to snow blowers, snow shovels, snow mobiles, etc. and will also keep locks from freezing. It works in sub-zero weather conditions. Application may be required before each use.

How does FLUID FILM work on Motorcycle chains?

FLUID FILM is an all purpose chain lube due to its non-solvent application. Spray FLUID FILM directly on the chain, wiping off excess with a clean rag. FLUID FILM will migrate into all areas, providing long-lasting lubrication and protection from rust. Great on bicycle chains as well.

What effect does FLUID FILM have on the environment ?

FLUID FILM is classified as non-toxic and non-hazardous and contains less than one percent VOC content, helping to eliminate the use of ozone-depleting chemicals in the atmosphere. FLUID FILM contains no solvents, phenols, heavy metals, arsenic, pcb's, pc's, tcdd's or other dioxin related substances.
